AFRICA DAY 2011
Africa and the Diaspora
25th May is Africa Day. It is the official day of the African Union, the successor of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). Africa Day is an opportunity to celebrate African unity, diversity and success; and join Africans around the world in highlighting the cultural and social energy of the continent.
African Center organized a roundtable on the ocassion of the 48th Africa Day celebration to create more awareness about Africa. The theme of the roundtable is PROMOTING AFRICA IN UKRAINE.
Ambassadors of African countries and staff of African diplomatic corps, officials from non-African diplomatic missions, the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration and other institutions, Africans, Ukrainians and other nationals participated in the AFRICA DAY 2011 ROUNDTABLE, which took place at Ukrinform on 25 May.
In the early hours preceding the roundtable, 5 Kanal interviewed Mr. Maurice Mouke, Director of Public Relations and Culture, African Center, about the activities of African Center and the significance of Africa Day.
African Center organized, co-organized and participated in other activities in Kiev and other regions during the week-long Africa Day celebration.

Migrants everywhere in the world have their progress and other forms of opportunities as well as their difficulties. Either way the opportunities as well as difficulties may differ in regard of geographic location and other factors.
In March 2009, governments, international and non-governmental organizations convened at Geneva for a two-day workshop aimed at finding pragmatic solutions to the human rights situations of migrants.
